About the Author
Suzanne Fagence Cooper spent 12 years as a curator and research fellow, studying the Victorian collections of the V&A Museum. She has written several books and essays on the Pre-Raphaelites and Victorian women. Her knowledge of 19th century art has led her to work as a consultant for BBC TV and radio. She lives in Yorkshire.

Amazingly written - you dont need to love history to love this...

I bought this book for something different to read, however I thought it may have been a bit too 'historically factual' for my simple fiction mind! but I could not put the book down. Suzanne Cooper has written the entire book in such a seamless way between historical fact and the tantilising story of Effie that you just want to know more. Effie was a brave, confident woman who fought for what she wanted and had alot of heartache in her life that keeps the pages turning!. The book is set within the victorian era from family letters that have been recently released to Suzanne Fagence Cooper by Effie's remaining family, filling in the gaps of Effie's story that were already known. It is clear from the book that Suzanne has an amazing insight into the victorian era and she really does transport you back in time. I look forward to any of Suzanne's future releases and would highly recommend this book.
